3 foldable phones announced at MWC 2023


Mobile World Congress 2023 is held in Barcelona and smartphone brands are revealing different and new concepts of smartphones. One of these concepts is foldables and three phones have been announced at the MWC. They are Tecno Phantom V Fold, Honor Magic VS and the OnePlus Foldable. Let’s have a look at the details we have about these folding smartphones.

1. Tecno Phantom V Fold

Tecno Phantom V Fold unveiled the phone in a black colour and the body is made up of aerospace-grade material. 

Tecno’s first foldable phone is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity9000+ chipset. The phone comes with dual-sim support and a 5G processor which is said to be designed especially for the Tecno Phantom V Fold

Tecno Phantom V Fold comes with a triple camera setup on the back holding a 50-megapixel primary camera. It is also seen sporting dual cameras on the front.

2. Honor Magic VS

Honor Magic VS was launched in November 2022 in China and the company has announced the phone globally in MWC 2023. The foldable phone comes with a 7.9-inch foldable OLED display which supports 10-bit colours, 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. The cover display is also the same OLED panel but with 120Hz refresh rate support.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor paired with 8GB and 12GB RAM. It runs on the Android 13 based MagicUI 7.1 operating system.

Honor magic VS comes with a triple camera setup holding a 54-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor and a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens. It sports a 16-megapixel selfie shooter.

It packs a 5000mAh battery and supports 66-watt fast charging.

3. OnePlus Foldable

OnePlus just announced its first foldable phone which is also named OnePlus Foldable. The specifications of the phone are not out yet and it will be launching in the second half of 2023. 

Kinder Liu, President, and COO of OnePlus at the company’s MWC panel discussion said, “Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market.”
